    Renewal checklist

    1. Complete your CE. Finish 6 hours of continuing education, including at least 2 live hours, before you renew. See the full breakdown on the CE requirements page.
    2. Keep your certificates. Save a PDF of each CE certificate. Alabama can audit your file, and the Licensure Gateway may ask you to upload proof.
    3. Renew between October 1 and December 31, 2027 through the ALBOP Licensure Gateway. The fee is $60.
    4. Confirm active status before January 1, 2028. Log back into the Gateway after submitting and verify your registration shows active. Save a screenshot for your records.

    If you miss it

A lapsed registration means you must stop working as a pharmacy technician in Alabama until it is reinstated. Reinstatement costs the $60 renewal fee plus a $20 penalty per lapsed year on top of the $60. Employers are required to pull anyone whose registration is not active, so a missed deadline almost always means lost shifts.

    First renewal

    • Registered in 2026: 3 CE hours, with at least 1 live hour, before December 31, 2027.
    • Registered in 2027: No CE required for this cycle. Your full 6-hour requirement starts the next cycle.
