Pharmacy tech tips
- Saxenda is dosed daily, unlike weekly GLP-1 products, so convert the milligram dose to mL first.
- Bill the total mL in the carton, not the number of pens.
- During titration the daily dose changes weekly, so the supply is shorter at maintenance doses.

How do you calculate day supply for Saxenda?
Convert the daily milligram dose to millilitres using the 6 mg per mL strength, then divide the total millilitres dispensed by that daily volume. Five pens is 15 mL, and 3 mg daily is 0.5 mL a day, which is a 30 day supply.
How many mL are in a Saxenda pen?
Each Saxenda pen holds 3 mL, which is 18 mg of liraglutide at 6 mg per mL.
